As You Like It

All the world’s a stage in the Forest of Arden where lovers become entangled in a beguiling game of love, lust and mistaken identity. Shakespeare’s timeless romantic comedy abounds with some of his most beloved characters.

Concept

When I was first met with Kate Burton to discuss the show, we ended up talking about all types of music. I asked her what music she was into and she gave me a vast list of artists. We both chose music that helped move the scenes based on the vibes. She also wanted it to be fun and lighthearted to keep our audience engaged. I knew I had to create a playlist of all songs we both liked so it felt like a piece of us.

When we got to tech, Kate really wanted the music to underscore a bit of the scene, swell up, then swell down to underscore the beginning of the next scene. Which is just what I did. In real time I was adding in cues and messing with levels to keep us going. The music helped keep the energy alive, the story moving forward, while also adding a flare of modern in it.

With every song choice, I based it on the scenes and what was happening leading into it. I wanted the transitions to add almost like a little dance break while also giving foreshadowing what was about to happen in the next scene.

Aside from that, I also had 22 RF mics to handle, which I did quite well!
