Pride and Prejudice

(Assistant Sound Designer)

A fresh comedic take on the beloved classic novel, this new Pride & Prejudice challenges our expectations. Lizzy, the second eldest of the Bennet sisters, does not believe in the institution of marriage, or even love. Her unconventional thinking begins to influence her sisters, resulting in chaos for the whole family. When Mr. Darcy, a frustratingly proud yet somehow still intriguing gentleman starts popping up at every turn, Lizzy begins to question her resolve. A farcical clash of the classes and a battle of wits ensues.

Responsibilities

Chautauqua’s mainstage production starting from the ground up required a lot from me. My main responsibility was to be in rehearsal playing the sound cues and reporting back to the designer what notes the director had. The designer had conflicts with the beginning part of tech, which was communicated to me from the start, so I was adjusting levels and making changes per the sound designer’s request. To some that I could not quickly make, I would take a note and update the designer when he was back in the room. I would update the paperwork and keep an open ear with whatever note was being tossed to him so that he could just listen and not worry about remembering. I recorded bells and edited them to sound like they were moving from one side of the room to another. I was at every preview taking notes. I was the sound designer’s right hand.
